# 1: Material Groups

This component allows for the selection of a material group from the KBOB database.

**INPUTS:**

To create the dropdown selection list, connect a button to the "Activate (Button)" input and click it.

**OUTPUTS:**

Connect the output list to the [Item Selector](/docs/components/0-database/item-selector.md) component to select one of the materials from the group, which can be then connected to the [Material ](/docs/components/0-database/2-material.md)component.
